Drawings And Sketches In Pencil
The Barberini Faun.
The Barberini Faun Statue was found in Rome from the Palazzo Barberini
in 1620’s and is currently in the Munich, Glyptothek Museum. From the
country of Greece and from the Hellenistic period & dated, circa, 220 BC.
It is made of marble and is 215cms high. The legs, arm, rock & tree were
all restored by Bernini.
The right leg & left arm were restored in the 17th.
Century, so the ‘Rococo’ elements of informality and humorous
abandon may be exaggerated.
